Boutique Horse Retirement & Recovery

Mohawk, Tennessee

02 — Rest & Recovery

Sometimes the best care is time.

A quiet place to step away from work.

Not every stay is forever. Hoffman Farms offers a low-stress setting for horses who need a restorative break, attentive observation, or time to recover under an established care plan.

Low-Stress Living

Unhurried routines, compatible turnout, natural movement, and space to decompress.

Hands-On Oversight

Close daily observation, owner-directed feeding, grooming, medication support, and thoughtful progress updates.

Trusted Veterinary Coordination

Care is coordinated with Bridlewood Equine Veterinary & Podiatry Services. When a procedure or referral-level treatment is needed, Hoffman Farms can trailer the horse to the University of Tennessee Equine Hospital in Knoxville.

A Hoffman Farms Difference

Pasture life is learned—not assumed.

Many accomplished horses arrive having spent little or no time living freely on pasture. We never simply open a gate and hope for the best. Ten pastures in varied sizes allow each horse to gain confidence gradually and safely.

01

Settle

A calm arrival period establishes routine, trust, and individual needs.

02

Expand

Turnout begins in a manageable space and increases as the horse becomes comfortable with greater freedom.

03

Connect

Compatible companions are introduced thoughtfully, with close observation of behavior and comfort.

04

Belong

The horse joins an appropriate herd only when ready, with continued hands-on oversight.

Purpose-built peace

No lessons. No training traffic. No ordinary boarding.

Hoffman Farms is reserved exclusively for retired and recovering horses. The atmosphere is shaped around their comfort—not the schedules, activity, and demands of horses in active work.

Exclusive Focus

Every routine, space, and care decision serves horses who are resting, recovering, or retiring.

Private Nightly Rest Available

Signature Care horses come in from the herd to sleep in an individual stall with thick natural bedding over a natural earth floor—never concrete.

On-Site Oversight

Kim lives on the property, keeping care personal and the farm closely supervised.

Exceptional Sightlines

The home overlooks the majority of the pastures, supporting frequent observation throughout the day.

01 — Our Philosophy

Retirement is not an afterthought.

It is a season of life worthy of intention, comfort, and joy.

At Hoffman Farms, horses are known as individuals. Their routines, relationships, histories, and changing needs shape the care they receive—every day, for the rest of their lives.

03 — Care & Services

Care that changes as your horse does.

Our intentionally limited enrollment allows us to notice the small things—and respond before they become big things.

01

Daily, Hands-On Attention

Individual observation, grooming, medication support, and—through the Signature Care Membership—a deeply bedded private stall every night.

02

Staged Pasture Transition

Gradually increasing turnout and carefully matched companions prepare each horse for confident herd living.

03

Connected Ownership

Meaningful photographs and personal updates, so distance never means disconnection.

Meet the Founder

Kim Hoffman

A lifelong love, redirected by one extraordinary horse.

I grew up with horses, and my love for them has been a constant throughout my life—even as that life carried me around the world. While living in Africa more than a decade ago, I adopted my first off-the-track racehorse. That experience opened my eyes to the intensity of a professional horse’s former routine—the structure, the care, and the pressure—and shaped my deep respect for the patience required to guide a horse into a new way of being.

After a 20-year career as an American diplomat, living and working overseas across eight countries, I chose a more grounded, purpose-driven path. Today, this farm is not mine alone—it belongs to the animals who call it home. Everything here is built around their needs, their healing, and their freedom to live fully as themselves.
